About Don Hamilton, UsefulWriter
As the founder of UsefulWriter LLC (2012), I’m here to use my many years of writing, technology, and content marketing expertise to help your business thrive. I accomplish this through my newsletters, blog, social media, and courses.
Whatever your goals, you’ve got to get your message across clearly and convincingly. Technology makes this both easier and harder. Knowing what to do to succeed today is where my expertise can help.
Nobody has all the answers yet. We can find them together, here at UsefulWriter.
My current goal is to help guide writers who must deal with the onslaught of generative AI. By focusing on uniquely human skills, writers can write better than AI and stand out in a saturated marketplace awash in generic AI output.

I was a teacher, too.
At one time, I was teaching simultaneously at two different colleges in two different fields: At Cal Poly Pomona in the Educational Technology Masters program and at Redlands University, where I was Professor of Trumpet.
Recently
In the last few years, since founding UsefulWriter, I’ve written freelance and as a ghostwriter for technology companies, especially startups. Hundreds of my blog posts for others (those with my name on them) are still available online.
Now, I’m switching gears and writing for those professionals who need to know what I’ve learned by writing and watching technology develop over the decades.
Current projects
Generative AI is something entirely new to the public. It has great potential, both for good and bad. Writers, in particular, need to learn how to compete with generic text generated at scale. I can help there, too, so that’s what I’m offering.
